This
problem is related to the users who have installed mum
version 1.0n and older. This can be solved by performing
the steps below:
1 Click on start > RUN > Type "regsvr32 urdumail.ocx
-u"
2 Press enter.
3 close all your browsers window and then login again.

time I restart my PC I get a warning message related
to my security settings. why it happens?.
This problem can resolve by follow the steps below.
In the internet explorer select Tools and perform the
following step.

2 Click custom level
3 Select security settings
4 In the security settings change the security settings
from Medium to Medium low or low
5 Enable the following options:
-Download signed Active X control
- Download unsigned ActiveX control
- Initialized and scripts ActiveX control not marked
as safe.

How do I Connect/ Login?
Once you have downloaded and installed MUM, you are
ready to connect/ login. To Login, start MUM, click
on "Sign in" button, it will ask you to enter your username
and password.
PLEASE INSURE THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.
Now enter your username and password and press "Submit"
button.
After authentication process, you'll be Logged In and
you will be provided your contact list.
If you are unable to connect to server, please make
sure that you are connected to Internet, and check proxy
settings in your Internet Options.

is the Nick Name?
Nick name is what other people on MUM will see as your
identity.
You can change your Nick Name any time you want. MUM
provides you 2 Nick names, one for Urdu and other for
English.
Nick name can be changed from Tools Menu by clicking
on Options.

What
does 'Remember Username and Password' mean?
If
you check the box 'Remember My Username and Password'
your password will be stored and you will not need to
enter your Username and Password every time you wish
to login.

What
is a Contact List?
It
is a list of all your MUM friends, family, acquaintances,
coworkers and chat friends. When you add contacts, their
MUM IDs become visible in this list.

How
do I get to know when someone comes online?
When someone from your contact list comes online, you
get an indicator near your system tray on the right.
Also, their username will appear in your contact list's
online section.

do I add friends to my list?
Click on the "Add" button to add a contact. In the window
that appears, enter your friend's MUM ID. An invitation
will be sent on your behalf. Your friend will be added
to your contact list as soon as he/she accepts the invite.

do I find a friend's MUM ID?
If you don not know your friend's MUM ID, MUM can help
you find it. Click on the 'Add' button on the main window,
enter your friend's name, gender and email, click on
Search, and MUM will find users matching your specifications.
You can then invite your friend to be a part of your
contact list.

How
do I install MUM?
Follow these simple steps to install MUM:
1. Get a licensed MUM software Kit from an authorized
dealer.

2. Install it using the guidelines provided with the
package.
3. When installation is complete, fill out the membership
form with your ID and Password (this ID and PASSWORD
is to be selected by you). Insert
your membership activation number written on a card
in your MUM kit. Once the form is submitted you
will be informed about your MUM membership activation
at the email address you have provided.
If you have downloaded MUM or
don't have Activation Key Get it here
Now login with your Username and Password
and start building your Contact List.
*To
uninstall MUM, click on the 'Start' button usually found
on the bottom left corner of your Windows screen. Select
'Settings' and then 'Control Panel'. Now double click
on 'Add/ Remove Programs'. In the window that appears,
scroll down to locate 'MUM'. Click on 'MUM' once and
click on the 'Add/Remove' button. Windows will confirm
if you really want to uninstall the program. Click on
'Yes' to uninstall.

This allows you to upgrade your MUM and to add the latest

version. MUM will automatically inform you when there

do I send a Message?
Once you have created your contact list, sending
messages is simple. Double Click on the User ID of the
contact you want to send a message to. In the window
that opens type your message in the lower part of the
screen. If you are sending message in URDU you can see
a preview of the URDU text to be sent. The upper window
contains all the messages sent and received.

do I receive a Message?
When you receive a message, a window with the name of
the sender flashes in your task bar. Click on it to
read your message.

messages using simple lists of choices in the conversation

do I use the Multi user Conference facility?
You can invite multiple contacts from your list into
a common conference. Double click on an contact ID to
start a conversation. Now click on the 'Invite' button
in the conversation window and you will be able to see
a list of all your online contacts. Select the contacts
you wish to include in the conference. The User IDs
of the members active in the conference will appear
on top of the chat/ conversation window.

range of emotions, from happiness to anger.

do I use Emoticons?
Emoticons can be selected by clicking on the 'Smiley'
button next to the 'Font' and 'Size' buttons in the
message/ conversation window, clicking on which will
give a dropdown displaying all the available emoticons.
Just click on the one you want to add to your message
and its code will be added to your message.
Now send the message as normally you send messages without
emoticons, you will see that emoticon in your message.
You can directly write codes for emoticons.

is Net Jinn ?
Net Jin provides you the easiest way to manage your
online tasks in a single window. All you have to do
is click on the Net Jin icon and the relevant information
will be displayed.

window?
Yes. If you click on any of the links a new browser
window will open allowing you to browse further.

What
is a Proxy? Why does it concern me?
If you are accessing the Internet from a cyber café,
an office or a LAN, you are likely to be behind a proxy.
A proxy is basically an interface between multiple users
on a common Internet connection and the Internet. Most
of the time, MUM can automatically detect your connection
settings through the 'Auto Detect' option. However,
sometimes you may need to enter your proxy settings
manually. Please consult your network administrator
to find out your settings.

do I delete a Contact?
Select the User ID you wish to delete in the main window.
Right click and select the Remove' option. If you wish
to add the user to your contact list again, you can
use the 'Add' button on the main window.
I don't want to receive any messages from a particular
Contact. What do I do?
You can temporarily block that contact. Select the contact's
User ID in the main window. Right click on the User
ID and select on 'Block'. You can unblock the user in
the same manner.

he has been blocked?
No,
your contact will not get to know that she/ he has been
blocked.

What
does Status indicate?
The 'Status' option allows you to select how you wish
to appear to all your contacts. You can choose from
Online, Busy, Away, Be Right Back, Away for prayers,
On the Phone etc. You can also choose to select a customs
status. Customs Status can be set from the Options available
in Tools menu.

How
do I change my Status?
Click on the 'File' menu, then on 'My Status' a list
of available status options will appear, choose from
this list what you want.

is the Online/ Offline icon?
This icon appears with the nick names of your contacts
in your contact list. If your buddy is online the icon
will appear Green. If s/he is offline it'll become Red.
It helps to indicate whether or not your friend is online.

How
to install MUM fonts ?
If
you are having problems in Display of MUM Fonts (URDU
FONTS) and receiving a message "Urdu Fonts compatible
with Mera Urdu Messenger are not installed properly"
please follow the instructions to install MUM fonts
in your computer.
- Download
HotFix for fonts by clicking here
(350Kb)
- After
finishing the download, locate the folder where you
have downloaded the HotFix and
double click on the file.
- When
the setup runs, click next to proceed with installation.
- Accept
the License agreement. (Remember if you decline the
License agreement, setup will abort).
- Select
the location where you would like to install HotFix
or click Next to proceed with the default location.
- Press
Install button to finish installation.
Upon
completion of setup, Hotfix will run automatically.
Simply follow the instruction by clicking Next and HotFix
will resolve the font issue.
Caution:
It is advisable to close Mera Urdu Messenger before
running this HotFix.

am unable to compose Urdu Email, I receive an Error
“This page provides
potentially unsafe information to an Active X control.
Your Current security setting prohibits running controls
in this manner. As a result, this page may not display
correctly.”
OR
Whenever
I try to compose my Email in Urdu, I receive an error
and I don’t see the Compose section
This
is a known problem and to resolve this issue kindly
follow the steps below.
(The problem is basically caused by high settings
for Internet Security in your browser. The following
settings applied to Internet Explorer (ver 5.0 and up)
only)
In
the internet explorer select Tools, and perform the
following step as follow
1-
Open Internet options, Select Security Tab
2-
Click Custom Level
3-
Select Security Settings
In
the security setting reset the security setting from
Medium to Medium-Low or Low. Enable the following options
under the ActiveX controls and plug-ins
4-
Download signed ActiveX control
5- Download unsigned ActiveX control
6- Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked
as safe
This
is a temporary solution to this problem and we understand
that some of our users might feel hesitant in performing
this operation. eTaleem will be providing a complete
